JEE Main Syllabus 2025 for B. E/ B.Tech., B. Arch. and B. Planning Papers, Weightage Important Details

MHRD’s announcement of a 30% reduction in CBSE class XI and XII syllabus has led to changes within the paper pattern of JEE Main 2025. No changes are announced for JEE Main Syllabus thus far.
For JEE Syllabus the revised syllabus will cover such topics:

  • Physics, Chemistry, and arithmetic. Paper 2 Syllabus for JEE Main 2025 covers topics from Aptitude, Drawing, and arithmetic.
  • While Paper 3 is going to be from topics of Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning-based questions.
  • Awareness of the JEE Main Syllabus 2025 will allow applicants to be versed with subject wise preparation and therefore the ideal approach to spot their strengths and weaknesses.


IIT-JEE New Exam Pattern

JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern has been revised considering the syllabus reduction by CBSE and state boards. Physics, Chemistry, and Maths will now have 30 questions each. All three of those subjects will have two sections. Section A will contain 20 MCQs and Section B will contain 10 Numerical value answer based questions. Candidates need to attempt any five questions out of 10 in section B.
It must be noted that last year, the entire questions in B.E/B. Tech. papers were reduced from 90 to 75, this alteration has been reversed in JEE Main 2025, however, the amount of questions that require to be attempted per section remains equivalent i.e. 25. Another major change introduced in JEE Main Exam Pattern is that JEE Main 2025 is going to be conducted in 13 languages.
A range of changes was introduced in JEE Main Exam Pattern alongside the kinds of questions asked and marking scheme. Paper 1 is entirely computer-based with total of 300 marks having MCQs and mathematical type questions from Physics, Chemistry, and arithmetic. B. Arch and B. There will be a common mathematics and aptitude sections in the third segment of drawing or planning based respectively.

  • JEE Main 2024 Question Paper: E/ B. Tech. Question Paper will have a complete of 90 questions of 300 marks, with 30 questions per subject – Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Numerical Value-based questions are added to the paper pattern of all three papers. B. Arch Paper will have a complete of 82 questions for 400 marks. The question paper of B. Planning shall include 105 questions for 400 marks. Candidates have an option to Answer 5 out of the ten numerical value answer based questions per section.
  • JEE Main Marking Scheme: Correct responses in MCQs and Numeric Value Answer Based questions are going to be awarded 4 marks each. there’ll be a deduction of 1 mark for each incorrect MCQ response. The negative marking will not be considered for each incorrect answer or unattended Drawing Test in B. The Arch paper contains 2 questions for 50 marks each.
  • JEE Main Exam Duration: E/ B. Tech, B. Arch and B. Planning paper will all be of a duration of three hours each. Candidates can sit for both B. Arch and B. Planning, in such a case, exam duration are going to be three hours half-hour.
  • The medium of Question Paper: The question paper is going to be available in English and Hindi for all JEE Main Exam Centers. JEE Main 2025 also will be conducted in 13 regional languages.

IIT-JEE Main Total Marks

  • Since 2019, NTA has been the conducting body of the exam and has been granted authority to look after IIT-JEE Exam Pattern respectively.
  • A major change introduced by NTA in 2024 was with reference to the entire marks of the question paper.
  • Earlier JEE Main had two papers, B.E/ B. Tech. for a complete of 360 marks and B. Arch /B. Planning, for a complete of 390 marks.
  • Moving ahead in 2025, a separate paper was introduced for B. Planning. the entire marks for every one of the papers has also been modified. B.E/ B. Tech paper is now for 300 marks. B. Arch Paper is for 400 marks and B. Planning paper is additionally for 400 marks.
